Passing Motion

Reflection + Editing Details
This is expanding on my mixed media piece from my sketchbook assignment. I kept the majority of the scanned elements from the original design but changed the color of the moon and added more detail to the dolphin. In this piece I wanted to slow down the motion of two things that typically pass each other in the blink of an eye, so the two moving pieces, the dolphin and boat, are at the center of each quadrant. I decreased the saturation and slightly increased the lightness of the moon so it would appear more white than yellow.
I added fins to the dolphin using the lasso tool and pasted in a copied part of the already made dolphin, then I used the warp tool to make it more curved and take on the shape of a dolphin. In each subsequent quadrant, I rotated the dolphin to mimic it jumping out and landing back into the water. A mask was used to hide the tailfin and the front of the dolphin in the respective first and last quadrant, to show it coming out of and reentering the water. The boat was simply shifted further into then quickly out of the frame with each quadrant.
